Driving to work in my car today, listening to a song by Monster Magnet

and thinking about H.P. Lovecraft, I came up with this...

(I kept the beat of the song in mind when writing the rhythm)

Cyclopean Tunnels

I’m walking through a cyclopean tunnel.
Past cold black stones in a giant, towering funnel.

The air has the stench of death,
The air dances with my breath,
Cold creeping through my bones,
Skin crawling before their evil thrones,

Ritualistic slab moaning in its rest,
Symbols laying there screaming in the past.
It’s a nightmare realm from beyond,
It’s the dream I am living on!

The cyclopean tunnel stretches on.
Through the darkness I stumble on.

Passages to the side, glowing with a pale moon tide.

Then the whispers begin to speak,
Of an ancient rites and souls that leak,
The blood of the dead pouring forth,
My sanity nevermore.

Running feet echo on,
As the fear begin to dawn.
The fractures of my calm,
Burn through like a flesh eating balm.

The terror rushes fast behind,
The light ahead is my only sign.
With the exit in my sight,
My clumsy feet trip before the light.
That’s when the things from beyond,
Begin to feast upon!

Tiny me disappears,
Now one of them, no more to fear.

I think you capture the mood of a horror type thing there well, with the description of the moons and the cave. Rhyming was good too.
