Control illusions

Have you ever noticed how similar to a fighting dog / master relationship men and their girlfriends can be?
I was watching these people the other night, the guys had decided to have a fight; the interesting thing is what the girls do in situations like that. Storm off in a tizzy, attack her man, bitch at the men to stop. They're quite upset but they aren't upset because their men are being attacked, they're upset because they've lost control.
There is a persistent need rooted deep within the human psyche to be in control. Never be uncontrollable all the time. If you can't be controlled people will worry about you because if you can't be controlled you're a threat.
No; people need to believe they can control you if you intend to get them to trust you, if you intend to use them. Otherwise they'll always be on guard around you. So you behave predictably - consistently; and you give them something to hold over you. Promiscuity, praise, whiskey, drugs, prestige, honour, religious pride; in short a vice you can indulge fairly regularly.
They'll see that as what it is, something to hold over you, a handle to control you with if they have to.
You've got to balance it though - don't become obsessed or you're screwed. The drawback is it has to really be a handle - when they try and screw you over with it it has to work, within limits - the advantage is they think they've got you by the throat, when really you're holding the other end. And when they lead you to the edge of the abyss and try to throw you in, you let go. And there they are holding it, wondering what's gone wrong; and all of a sudden you're uncontrollable.
Just some thoughts.
